  • History of Cabinteely

There is a tomb at Cabinteely known as Brennanstown Portal Tomb, Glendruid cromlech/dolmen, or The Druids’ Altar that dates back to prehistoric times.

The region was of “great prestige and importance” between the sixth and seventh centuries, according to excavations conducted between 1957 and 1999 around 700 metres southeast of Cabinteely. There may have been a church there as well as ancillary structures, possibly workshops, and a cemetery.

Local amenities include two large park shopping centres, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops with Sandycove and Killiney beach a short drive away.

  • Shopping in Cabinteely

You don’t need to travel far to get what you need, the area is a hive of activity and offers a great selection of shops from Cornelscourt shopping centre and The Park shopping centre. There is also a range of local smaller convenience stores, beauticians, and shops in the area.

St. Brigid’s Girls National School, St. Brigid’s Boys National School (Foxrock), Cabinteely Community School, Clonkeen College, and Loreto Convent are just a few of the primary and secondary schools that serve the neighbourhood.

  • Socialising

There is plenty to do in the area from local sporting and community clubs. The “Horse and Hound” public house is in the centre of the village and is a very popular pub for the locals. There are also several upscale restaurants to choose from. 

  • Public Transport

The N11 stops nearby where the 63,145, and 84x stop, and Aircoach also travels to the area from the airport. From the Stillorgan dual carriageway and the M50, access is simple by automobile.
